Mathematics of Leadership – Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion

Newton’s third law of motion is the one we know that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

As I have mentioned in previous blogs that there is a leadership and mathematics follow a pattern. Leadership can have kinetic or potential energy. Leadership can be moving along a path gaining or losing momentum.

We know that we can relate leadership to Newton’s first two laws but can we relate it to the third law of motion? The answer is yes with a caveat. Leadership and change goes hand in hand. Leaders dealing with change on a regular basis knows that with change there is some individual or group who oppose the change; they are the reaction against opposing the action of the leader..the action.

Leadership is hard – there are constant forces acting against the the change leader and the change she is bringing forward. At the end of the day the action of change is acted upon in an equal and opposite direction creating a stalemate – the road to redundancy and eventually professionally and/or organizational insignificance.
